Snake Charmer

The idol in the temple represents the lord in the snake form. Subramanya, or Murugan is known to be the elder son of Shiva and Parvati. He is the god of snakes. The main idol is believed to be a natural formation with Lord Subramanya facing east and Lord Lakshmi Narasimha the avenger avatar of Vishnu facing west. The west facing half of the idol is viewed through a mirror.  specific prayer called Sarpa Dosha (SNAKE’S CURSE)is advised by astrologers for some people based on studying their horoscopes. The curse of the serpent is part of a Hindu belief of being cursed in a previous birth.

The serpent gods of Ghati Subramanya are worshipped in belief that one's wishes shall be fulfilled. Many childless couples pray to the snake gods for offspring
