Keep your eyes on the Road!

It has been a while since we blogged. Distractions galore...

Ventured out to God's own country yet again for a wedding in the family. As usual the Mallu weddings last for about 5 minutes .. and then its the usual lavish feast and different flovors of payasams . . .

Its Onam season in Kerala and festivities are on. The shops are open through Sundays until Onam. Usually Sunday is a National Holiday and no Shops open. People are on a shopping spree all around.

Frustrated the widows dont open in the train ..

A fruit shop ..

On the whole, it feels nice to take these short breaks once in a while, to get away from the maddening rush hour!

Back to Future!

TOI today, got it all wrong. They were too optimistic. Little did they realise that in ~50 years of Independence, how little (actually none) progress we have made. The roads are still the same. The ones laid by the Britishers have just been re-tarred. We still fill pot holes manually and melt tar burning papers (the BMP way of filling pot holes) - Sakkat HOT magaa! Over crowded buses .. trains.. and trams .. All of them, left behind by the Brits. The trains have an inch of foam now compared to the benches pre-independence. The flyovers, planned 50 years back are taking shape now, only to realise that some of them have had to be closed (like the one on Richmond Circle). Crores down the drain.

The bus drive from ITPL to Vidyaranyapura took about 2.5 hrs yesterday!!!! A record ever since I have ridden on route2J ! In 2025, there will be more chaos all around . . I can bet route2j will take half a day to reach its destination. The metros would never run, becoz' the doors would never shut due to overfill :))
